Our top tips when considering your next team building event.
BUSINESS
Events & culture
Team building events are an incredibly effective way to increase team cohesion, motivation, morale, self-value and appreciation for your business. Whether you’re a newly formed or a long-established team, the right team building activity can do wonders for all involved. This can often place a big pressure on the event organiser to ensure they pick the right activity, with so many possible options it can be hard to know where to start.
We at The Elvetham want to make the process as simple as possible with our team of experienced events planners. We have also put together a few ‘top tips’ to consider for your next team building event:
Provide as much information as you can
At initial enquiry stage we like to gather as much information from you as we can about what you would like for your next team building event. This will allow us to make recommendations for which activities will work best for your team. Details such as, date, time available, number of guests attending, delegate demographics, objectives and budget will help to paint a clear picture for our team.
Think about your objectives
To get the most out of your event, ensure you take the time to think about what you really want to get out of the activity – improving communication, developing your team, encouraging creativity, focusing on time management, encouraging healthy competition, or even just to have a bit of fun together as a team.
Consider timings
Understandably, team building is often planned around the main meeting element, but it is important to allow enough time for your team building activities. A limited time frame for the activity can give the feeling of it being rushed which could have a negative and opposite effect to its intended purpose. We highly recommend that activities are run after the ‘business’ part of the day has concluded, allowing guests to relax and enjoy themselves without the worry of needing to get back to work.
Keep the whole team in mind
While there is a temptation to book an activity which you will personally enjoy, it might not be to the liking of all people involved, it is always best to consider the age range, physical ability and confidence levels of every team member. By doing this you will avoid making anyone feel excluded by the event instead of bring the team together.
Make the most of the space available
Whether looking at indoor or outdoor activities, it is best to consider the available space of your intended venue. At The Elvetham, we have 4 magnificent meeting rooms of varying sizes to fit your needs for indoor events, as well as 35 acres of grounds available for outdoor activities. We are very flexible to your needs with motorised activities permitted on site,The Elvetham is the perfect venue for your Team Building activities.
